The 2024 Southeast of Saline Sadies dance took place on Saturday, February 3rd. The dance was put on by FCCLA and the leadership class. It was a Valentine-themed dance that high schoolers were allowed to attend.
Sadies is a semi-formal dance that typically takes place around Valentine’s Day. Southeast FCCLA has been putting on this dance for many years. Sadie’s is an annual dance that is a spin-off of the typical dance. This dance gives the girls a chance to ask the boys to the school dance instead of the traditional way of boys asking girls.
The two most popular songs at the dance were “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan and “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield. These songs are also trendy on TikTok and other social media platforms. Millions of people have used the Unwritten song because of the new movie that came out, “Anyone But You”.
Red was the most popular dress color this year. Around half the girls wore red dresses with some form of sequins or sparkles on them. The dance was a “Sock Hop”, so most of the girls wore fun Valentine’s Day socks that FCCLA provided. Socks were given as an option to wear because typically the girls take off their heels to prevent scratching the gym floor and for comfort. If they didn’t want to go barefoot they could wear socks. Also, the socks were used as a fundraiser to raise money for their choice of charity.
The snacks were made by the leadership class and Ms. Lewis. There were Oreo balls, chex mix, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Along with lemonade and punch to drink. The snacks were a hit being there wasn’t a lot left over.
Everyone that went to Sadie’s this year made memories and had a good time. Lots of fun pictures were taken to prove how fun it was for those who could not make it. Also, the photos are a great way to look back on previous dances from High School. As always the next dance can’t come soon enough.
