Kylee Kogler receives Rudd scholarship
April 9, 2020
Senior Kylee Kogler was going about her normal routine of a high school day when suddenly a woman appeared at the front of her government classroom with a huge check. She had won a full-ride Rudd scholarship.
“I was shocked. I had no idea I had received the scholarship,” Kogler said.
Kogler’s scholarship pays for the cost of books and supplies, tuition and fees, and room and board after other scholarships and grants are accounted for. The scholarship can pay for up to $70,000, depending on the cost of school a student attends and what other scholarships they had received.
The Rudd Scholarship could be used at Fort Hays State University (FHSU), Emporia State University (ESU), or Wichita State University (WSU).
Kogler has her mind set on FHSU.
“Junior year I was very indecisive in what I wanted to pursue and that had all of the majors I was considering so I visited the campus (at Fort Hays) and ended up really loving it. I knew that that was where I wanted to go to school.” Kogler said.
Kogler is planning on majoring in Medical Diagnostic Imaging with and Emphasis in Ultrasound while attending FSU.
“I don’t have a specific reason why (I picked this) I just think it is an interesting field,” she said.
Kogler will have to maintain a 3.0 while pursuing this major so that she can renew her scholarship each year.
“This scholarship will relieve a huge financial burden and allow me to focus more on school and less on my financial situation. I will be able to pursue my future career without the stress of paying for it,” Kogler said.
