The November board meeting was held on November 11th, 2024. In this meeting, the board talked about the football field, the field house, and The Addams Family Musical.
Mitch Gebhardt, head football coach, brought up the state of the football field and the possibility of fixing it. The field has many safety issues that have made SES move some games to the Salina fields. Too much water has been one of the main causes of the damage to the field. The football field has been a disaster for years and is not going to get any better. There is no grass growing on the field which makes the field hold water for too long. They did some testing on the field, and clay was detected which keeps water on the field. Six years ago, the field got a new sprinkler system that the school is trying to get money back for because it’s not working. If the school can get the money back, they can put it into fixing the football field. The board discussed using the Mammoth Company which will give better prices if they fix the football field. The project can be done by the 2025 track season but doesn’t need to be finished until football camp begins on June 2, 2025.
The next topic was the field house project which is currently in the state of finishing up with architects getting ready to share the final details. The bid conference was held two weeks ago and the results will be back shortly.
The Musical was the last topic discussed at the November board meeting. The Addams Family was performed on November 14th and November 16th. The Musical was a hit and filled the seats with laughter and joy. The Addams Family was put on by a spectacular group of students who showed off amazing talent. A pit orchestra was not available for the musical, but the show still went on. The students also didn’t receive their tracks until one week before the show. The students practiced every day in class and late after school with practices finishing around ten o’clock. With all the hard work put into this musical and the short amount of time provided, the students put on an amazing performance.
