During the board meeting on January 13th, 2025 the board discussed the cyber attack on powerschool, the field house update, awards, retirement, resignations, and new hires.
PowerSchool released information around two o’clock on January 13th, 2025 about a potential cyber security incident that could have leaked personal information. With this, PowerSchool has activated its cyber security response protocols to team with senior leadership and third-party cyber security. This will include credit monitoring or identity protection. Some of the information that might have been accessed are social security numbers (SSN), birthdays, and health information. Luckily, in the past couple of years, they have taken out kids’ media and information from PowerSchool.
Next, the board moved on to the field house renovation. The field house is in progress, and demolition is starting. They talked about color schemes in mid-January, and the manager will send a summary to start ordering the project. The project will be done by the home track meet. Mitch Gebhardt has been calling potential donors for sideline turf and donations. The baseball and softball fields have been started and will be continuing throughout the school year. Final options will be sent to Mr. Stumpf and ordered immediately so they can start installing.
Then the board talked about an award one of Southeast’s teachers won. One of the third-grade teachers, Mrs. Mikkleson, won the Horizon Award. The Horizon Award winners are 16 elementary and 16 high school teachers across the state. Mrs. Mikkleson has shown her accomplishments throughout her teaching career at Southeast of Saline and our staff has recognized the talent and dedication that she shows by nominating her for The Horizon Award. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Mikklson as a third-grade teacher here at SES, and we hope to see her continue her journey here.
The last topic was about retirement, resignation, and hiring. Neal Zousas has been working at SES for five years, and we thank him for everything he has done for SES Patrick Schroder is resigning as assistant basketball coach. SES has two new hires, Jimmy White, and Emily Anderson. Jimmy White has been approved to be the new assistant baseball coach and Emily Anderson has been approved to be our new assistant softball coach.
