On March 3rd, the city of Salina started to do construction on the 2 bridges. The first bridge is K-4/I-135 Junction, the second bridge is by Dry Creek, east of K-104/K-4 junction. They installed lights to keep the traffic roads safe. King Construction is the construction helper and the cost for both bridges is about $5.2 million.
The stop lights feel so long when you stop at one of them. When you stop at one of them it takes about 5 minutes for one of the lights to turn green. Since people don’t want to wait that long to stop at the stop light, they take different routes. So people either take Ohio or Holmes. Most people usually live in town so they take Highway 81, but now most people take Ohio or Holmes. Those two roads are busier than ever. When you take Ohio or Holmes it may cause more accidents because people are very reckless drivers on the dirt road. There has been lots of construction going on when you drive to school. They are moving the K-4 highway so there are more constructions. When it rains outside the dirt roads get very muddy and it is even more dangerous now that people are driving on the roads and the mud is bad.
There’s a lot of construction going on when you drive to the school, and it’s making it hard for people to get there. Some people are even late for school because of the stop lights that they had put up. Cars are stuck in the stop lights, so people are showing up late. People try to avoid the stop lights as much as they can, some people even if the stop light is red, they see an opening and they still go through the lights even if it’s red. It’s just a big mess and makes getting to school more annoying for everyone.
Overall, the ongoing construction near the school is causing a lot of problems for students, parents, and staff. It’s making it harder for everyone to get to school on time. These issues are creating stress and making the daily routine more frustrating for everyone. Until the construction is finished, it will likely continue to affect how people get to school each day.
