Basketball Wraps Up
April 1, 2022
With Spring Break upon us, the end of basketball season for the boys and girls came to a close. Both teams were fortunate enough to continue their seasons into the final 8 teams in the state who are all hoping to attain a state title. Throughout the season, the Trojans were very successful in their 20 regular-season games. Both teams went 17-3, where the girls lost to Smoky Valley, Clay Center, and Sterling, and the boys lost to Hesston, Hillsboro, and Hugoton. Both teams took their final loss in the regular season in the Sterling Tournament, where the girls took 2nd and the boys took 3rd.
The end of the Season brings the loss of important seniors. For the girls, the seniors of Karsyn Schlesner, Mallorie Pearson, and Alaina Yianokopolus will be moving on. These three were very instrumental players in their 2021-2022 state tournament run. People will be forced to step up next year during basketball season. For the boys who have no seniors on the team, they are very hopeful to make a successful return for next year’s season. The boys placed 3rd in the state tournament without any senior representation. Their eyes next year are on the top prize, the state title. With everyone back next year, this goal is definitely feasible.
