The Back to School Bash was a hit! The SES student Council hosted a back to school event at Lakeside venue in Assaria, Kansas. There were a bunch of activities including swimming, slides, beach volleyball, and many other fun water activities. The back to school bash was a great way to start the new school year by getting the majority of the students together to meet and have fun!
The bash did not have many problems but there were just a few! Many people suggested that we do it on a cooler day and have a better arrangement for parking. The staff had to sit out and watch the kids and they were getting a little hot because the temperatures that day were hot with a high of 107 degrees. The students had to park on the whole other side of the Lake which was hard for them to get over where the bash was actually taking place. Some of the students did not like having to pay to get in the Back to School Event and would rather have it be a free event.
The staff loved seeing the students getting along and participating in activities outside of school as well. They enjoyed the amount of students that arrived, but they wished a few more had come. Seeing the students having fun together and bonding really made the environment there and at school a lot better! Being able to get all the students together was a great way to help get more students involved and have less conflict at school.
Many students said they would love to do it again next year at Lakeside because they had such a good time. They loved that there was plenty of food there and many activities. One of the students’ favorite activities according to a survey we conducted involved clogging the slides and going down altogether at rapid speeds. They also loved jumping off the dock and going off the rope swing. A personal favorite was playing beach volleyball and playing spikeball with lots of other students. The survey revealed that the back to school bash is something that everyone wants to do again next year. They loved being able to connect and have fun outside of school, and everyone loved the activities and being able to see everyone get along.
