Starting in October and going throughout the rest of the year there will be a teacher spotlight. The teacher chosen for this spotlight will be interviewed and posted monthly in the TroJournal. This month the teacher spotlight focuses on Mrs. Pesha Ptacek. She teaches biology, Anatomy and physiology, and sports physiology. She is also the assistant volleyball coach and head softball coach.
Mrs. Ptacek grew up in Clay Center, Kansas, and attended Kansas State University. In her interview, Mrs. Ptacek was asked what she would be doing if she wasn’t teaching. She stated, “My first majors were pre-chiropractic and nutrition/exercise science.” She was also asked what she enjoys about teaching at Southeast. She responded by saying that she really enjoys having the same schedule as her kids, and the small but not tiny feel of the school. Mrs. Ptacek also said that she was really excited about coaching her first year, and it was reasonably close to her hometown and Manhattan. The final interview question was about what she is passionate about outside of school. She said, “Things I am passionate about in school are the things I am passionate about outside of school too. I enjoy pool time, the lake, and K-State sports too.”
In conclusion, Mrs. Ptacek knows how to make things fun and is an all-around great person.
