This month the Teacher Spotlight focuses on Mrs. Mary Weis. Mrs. Weis teaches computer applications, as well as finance and business classes. Mrs. Weis has been teaching at Southeast for 11 years.
Mrs. Weis was asked several questions. The first question is what is your hidden talent? She answered by saying that she loved to bake. She also said, “My favorite time to bake is around Christmas. I love baking all kinds of cookies and treats, but my favorite is the ginger snap cookie. I bake for family and friends making special deliveries right before Christmas Eve.” Some other questions were where did you grow up and where did you go to college? She answered that she went to Kansas State University, and she grew up in Kansas City and Salina. Another question was, what would you be if you weren’t a teacher? She replied that she would want to work in banking or finance since that is part of what she teaches at Southeast. Mrs. Weis was also asked, what’s your favorite part of teaching, why did you choose to teach at Southeast, and what is something you’re passionate about outside of school? She replied that she liked working with the students. Next, she said that she chose to teach at Southeast because her kids went there, she lived in the area, and she heard that Southeast had a great reputation. Lastly, some things she loves doing outside of school are reading and running.
In conclusion, Mrs. Weis is a wonderful and fun person to be around. She has a great teaching method, and she knows how to connect with the students. Overall, Mrs. Weis is a great teacher.
