July 21, 1969 was the day when the famous NASA astronaut, Neil Armstrong, set foot on the moon. This is called the Apollo 11 moon landing. The landing was, and is, still considered the most astonishing achievement in human history. But over the years since it happened, people have speculated that the moon landing may not be real.
My first reason as to why I think it was faked is because of the lighting in the pictures (Armstrong). In a lot of the photos that were taken of this event, you can see that Neil Armstrong’s shadow is not parallel. But, as we all know, the Sun is the only source of light in outer space, so his shadow should’ve been parallel. This piece of evidence shows that there was not just one angle of light, and because of this, it was making different shadow patterns. If you have more than one source of lighting then your shadows will appear bigger and not parallel (Armstrong).
My second reason that helps support my claim is the movement of the American Flag in pictures you see. In the pictures, you can see that the flag is swaying in the wind, but this is in space. In space there is absolutely zero wind because there is no atmosphere. A lot of people think that the reason why the flag looks like it was swaying in the wind is because it had wrinkles in it from being folded up for four days while traveling to space. There is no way that the flag would still have all those wrinkles because it was standing up on a straight pole which would’ve straightened it out.
Finally, my last reason to support my theory is about the footprints that Neil Armstrong supposedly put onto the moon with his boots. The footprints in the photos that are n on the internet, do not match the astronaut boots that Neil Armstrong wore to space. The boots he wore to space are currently sitting in a museum (“\/”). Another reason to support this claim is that if they did actually go to the moon over 50 years ago, then why have they not gone back? All of the photos that were taken were pretty clear. The gloves that were worn on the crew of the Apollo 11 were very thick. And the lenses were not the greatest, so it would be really hard to get that clear of a photo if he were to actually be in space.
“NASA’s robotic lunar orbiters have photographed objects left behind at each landing site” (Luntz). Even though NASA took pictures of each object and the location they put it in, they could simply photoshop each object to look real as long as they are precise. Since this event was such a huge thing that happened, I feel that NASA took a long time and tried to pay close attention to photoshop the items in where they said they were left.
To conclude this moon landing theory, the moon landings were faked. The angles in pictures that affected the shadows with different lighting, the flag swaying in the wind,, the boot footprint that was left by Neil Armstrong did not match the boot that he wore to space, and finally, all of the photos that were taken were too clear to be taken on the moon are all the reasons the moon landing was faked. To this day, NASA’s landmark is still being challenged by many, including me.
