The teacher next teacher chosen for December is Mr. Joshua Nelson. Mr. Nelson teaches high school pre-calculus, calculus, and physics. This is Mr. Nelson’s first year teaching at Southeast. He grew up in Salina, KS, and he went to Kansas State University to get his B.S. in Physics. At Fort Hays State University, he got his M.S.E. in Secondary Education.
One of the first questions he was asked was what his hidden talent was. He answered, “I’m a master at sudoku.” Other questions were what would you be doing if you weren’t a teacher and what is your favorite part of teaching? His answers were, “ Information System and Data/Network Engineer,” and he likes that he can engage students in learning and improve the knowledge of students in the subjects that he teaches. The next question was, why did you choose to teach at Southeast? His answer was, “My favorite classes in high school were physics and Calculus. At Southeast, I am able to teach both.” The last question he was asked was, what are some things you are passionate about outside of school? Something he is passionate about outside of school is watching Chiefs football games.
In conclusion, Mr. Nelson brings so much fun and energy into his classrooms and will hopefully have a long career at Southeast of Saline.
