The Christmas Season is the most wonderful time of the year. Families look forward to it all year long, and it is finally upon us.
Christmas is made up of many different fun activities including: family, singing, baking, and giving back. The most exciting thing that gets people in the spirit is Christmas movies.
There is a wide variety of Christmas movies, from old classics to spunky new ones. Most people enjoy the old ones because it reminds them of their childhood or a specific memory. We interviewed SES teachers on their favorite movie and why it is their favorite.
The most popular movie was Christmas Vacation. It reminded everyone of their own family and they just love comedies. The laughter and adventure bring out the Christmas spirit. The second popular one was Home Alone, also because it is a comedy from their childhood. Comedies, most of the time, are people’s favorite because it’s something to watch with the whole family.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas was another popular one because it either came out during their childhood, or it’s just a heartwarming Christmas movie. One teacher said, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas was a movie we always watched growing up, but as I have gotten older, I see more and more within the movie. The biggest love for me is how an act of kindness toward someone, especially one who is left out, can change their whole perspective on life.”
Another longstanding Christmas movie favorite is Elf. Buddy is a family favorite that everyone loves. Most teachers replied with answers all around the fun comedy. It is a classic no one can beat.
White Christmas was also a response. One teacher responded, “My mother and I get together every year and watch this movie while we make Christmas cookies. We love to sing along to all of the songs!” Another teacher also said it’s their favorite because of all the wonderful songs in it.
Santa Claus was mentioned because it gets them in the spirit. The Christmas Story reminded many of their childhood eating Christmas candy in their pajamas. A Wonderful Life made the list of favorites because it reminds us to be grateful this time of year. Lastly, the Star was mentioned because it shows the true meaning of Christmas.
Overall Christmas movies bring back good memories every year. They get us in the spirit and give all of us a reason to be grateful. There is always a movie out there to watch with friends and family, that shows the reason for the season!
