2A Football Playoffs
The football playoffs start with East and West divisions and then get set up based upon their records and the district points. The district points are determined how many points you scored on the opposing team and you are only allowed 21 district points a game. If you score over 21 points a game you only get 21 points . There is no such thing as non- district points they have in the regular season. Because Southeast of Saline had the best record on our side of the bracket, we had the best seed. They base the seeding off your records and the district points. You would want the best seed and then have the first two rounds of the playoffs at home since we won the district and had the most district points. Playoffs are set up as week nine then you will have Regional, Sectional, Sub-State, and then the State Championship. If you won the district you will have the 2 first games at home and if you keep winning you could have every single game at home besides the state game.
Last year was Southeast of Saline’s first year in the 2A league, and it has changed up the teams we play in the playoffs at the end of the year. This year, we were the number one seed in the 2A playoffs on our side of the bracket. We started off the playoffs with an easy win over Chaparral at home week nine. Because we won the game, we moved on to the regional game at home against Kingman who beat us out during the 2022 season in the sub-state game. We won the game against Kingman, so we moved on to the sectional game against Hoisington at Hoisington. We lost this game by seven points (49-42) but it was a very good game that both teams fought to the end. The 2A playoffs are played in Salina, Kansas at the Salina Stadium (Salina Central). This year’s 2A championship game contenders will be the defending champions Nemaha Central Thunder and the Hoisington Cardinals. The Nemaha Central Thunder are back to back state champions.
