Congratulations to Charlotte Knopf for getting January Athlete of the Month!
Suzu Kimizuka is the January Student of the Month. Suzu is a foreign exchange student from Japan who is living with her host mom, Allison Lecklider. Suzu describes herself as a challenged, smiley, and positive person. Suzu has brought so much positivity and light since coming to SES! She definitely shows these characteristics in everything and towards everyone here at SES. A fun fact about Suzu is that her favorite animal is a baby seal. Suzu is a Senior here at SES and came to SES this year as a Senior. At SES, Suzu is involved in cheer, the play, and forensics. Her favorite out-of-school activities are drawing, making crafts, and stretching. Suzu said, “Stretching has been my routine before I go to bed since I was a 4th or 5th grader. I stretch for fun and to relax to keep my body flexible.” Suzu’s parents are Ken and Nanako, and her brother is Koh. Suzu loves spending time with her mom by shopping at the mall and going to the grocery store. Suzu says, “I usually ask her to come with me instead of asking my friends because I like to share our preferences for clothes and food.” Another way Suzu loves to hang out with her mom is going out to eat, but that’s something they don’t do very often. Suzu likes to do outdoor activities like skiing with her dad. Suzu says her family has been going on a skiing trip almost every year since she was in second grade. Suzu loves to learn from her dad about how to ski. Suzu says she and her dad like to practice skinning together and that they can ski together for over an hour without any breaks. Her favorite part about hanging out with her dad is his personality and that he will praise her even in the small things, which gives Suzu so much confidence. With her brother, Suzu likes to joke around, watch funny videos that she and her brother send to each other, and just be weird. Suzu also says that when catching up, she and her brother talk about his Jr High teachers and classes that he is taking, since Suzu used to go to that school. Suzu says her brother is 15, and if he came to SES, he would be a Freshman. Suzu says that Japanese schools have three years of Jr High while SES has two. After high school, Suzu says that she doesn’t have a certain college in mind, but she wants to go to a Japanese college. Suzu hopes to work abroad and continue her journey of learning English as well, and in the future, learn another language. I want to give a huge congrats to Suzu Kimizuka for earning January Student of the Month!
