Savannah Guthrie is a news figure and a well-known co-anchor of NBC News’ Today show. While Savannah is usually on the news, her mom, Nancy Guthrie, is now making a big appearance in a variety of new shows and articles. Nancy Guthrie lives in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, and on January 31st, was not found in her home.
Nancy Guthrie was born in 1947 and is now 84 years old. She was reported missing from her home on February 1st. It is believed that she was unwillingly abducted from her own home. ENews reports that there are currently still no suspects for who would have kidnapped her (Forde). All of the Guthrie family, including all siblings and spouses, have been cleared and are no longer possible suspects for this case. Police say that there were multiple gloves found around her home, but none of these helped lead them to any conclusions on where this 84-year-old lady could be. The nearest gloves were found about two miles from her home in Arizona. The other resource that the officers are using to discover who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie is the surveillance footage. While going over the footage, they were able to see that a man was at her home on February 1st. This would have been very helpful in the investigation to find where she is, but the man was wearing a black mask, so no one was able to identify who he really is.
Nancy Guthrie was married to Charles Guthrie, a mining engineer, who died in 1988 at the age of 49 due to a heart attack. Nancy never got remarried and raised her three children in Arizona. One of Nancy’s daughters, Savannah Guthrie, had made quite a name for herself in news and TV as an NBC News anchor. Savannah is very concerned and worried about what could happen to her mother and what is the cause of her being kidnapped. Nancy has been missing for almost three weeks at this point, and the ransom for Nancy keeps rising as well. A ransom is a sum of money or other payment for the release of a prisoner. As of now, according to Fox10, there have been two ransom notes requesting different amounts of Bitcoin or other currencies (Wong). The first ransom was $4 million in Bitcoin, while the latest ransom note was $6 million in an unspecified cryptocurrency. These ransom notes graphically described what would happen if their demands for this interesting currency were not met.
Officers say that while watching the surveillance videos, they were able to see that the masked man was in Nancy Guthrie’s home for 41 minutes before they were able to see them exit the house in Arizona. They have not yet figured out what happened in those 41 minutes while they were inside the home.
As the search for Nancy continues, they are reaching the second month of her disappearance. Savannah Guthrie has been visiting her mother’s tribute as she waits for any new news or information about who and why someone would have kidnapped her mother. Authorities say that Nancy was taken out of her home against her will and are still looking for her now. As of now, they still have no new information or leads on who took her or where she could be kept.
As this 84-year-old woman is waiting for someone to come and rescue her, individuals still stay here waiting for more information on where she could be or who would have wanted her gone. Nancy’s case reaches the second month, and it starts to make you wonder, will the authorities find her before it’s too late?
