On Saturday, August 19th SES Stuco held two annual back to school events to kick off the 2023-2024 school year. The day began with the Stuco car wash fundraiser, and finished with the Back to School Bash.
The annual car wash fundraiser took place at Emmanuel Church in Salina. The car wash began at ten in the morning and went through two in the afternoon. Stuco members held signs promoting the car wash, and cleaned and dried the cars in order to raise money for the SES Stuco account; the money in this account is used to fund all the activities, dances, and events for the student body, and for the Trojans Helping Trojans organization which gives to SES families in times of need. Overall, the car wash was successful, and Stuco raised over $900 to add to the account.
The Back to School Bash, another annual back to school event, also took place on August 19th to start off the school year with a fun get together for the student body. This event which is normally held in the parking lot of the school, had a location change this year to Lakeside in Assaria. The students who attended swam in the lake, went down water slides, jumped off a rope swing, played sand volleyball and spikeball on the beach, and ate hot dogs grilled by the administration who attended. Based on a survey given to the students, their favorite activities included swimming in the lake and going down the water slides. The change of location was a big hit, with all of the students who took the survey preferring the Lakeside location over the parking lot of the school.
Overall, both the car wash fundraiser and the Back to School Bash were successful and a great way to start off the beginning school year for the students.
